“Organising for transdisciplinary research”

Trinity College Dublin

Abstract

Over the past two years or so, working with two colleagues in Trinity, we have written a book titled "How to Organise for Transdisciplinary Research: Transformative Action and Knowledge Co-Production". It will be published by Edward Elgar in July 2026. The presentation is based upon this work. The book includes eight international case accounts of transdisciplinary research written by researchers active in management, organisational and environmental studies, engineering, international development and healthcare.  These accounts of environmental, social purpose and economic interventions form the basis for a collective contribution to understanding philosophical and practical considerations (like funding, team building and planning) associated with organising for transdisciplinary research.
