Researchers from PGJCCR & QUB are hosting a BioFAIR UK workshop on 18 June

14 June, 2024

The BioFAIR workshop, which will be hosted by researchers from QUB and PGJCCR is part of UK-wide roadshow which aims to engage with life science research communities and will take place in QUB’s Riddel Hall.

provides an opportunity to engage with, learn about and help shape the development of - a funded federated digital research infrastructure that promotes ‘Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Re-usable’ (FAIR) research data training, management and analysis.

"I’m excited to present on the complexities of handling and sharing image-based data in research and the need for both raw and curated outputs in data-lakes,” said PGJCCR’s , one of the workshop’s speakers.

“It's brilliant to see initiatives like BioFAIR UK promoting the Findable, Accessible Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) principles for research data management,” said PGJCCR’s

“Huge amounts of data have been collected in a variety of settings and, as a community, we have a duty to ensure that data is made available and harnessed with cutting-edge analytics in order to generate knowledge. Indeed, understanding fundamental biology is an important driver of progress in medicine, ultimately benefiting patients.”

As part of (BBSRC)’s ‘call to action’, BioFAIR aims to empower researchers with resources for data management and analysis, raise the quality of data sets and analysis pipelines, and stimulate the uptake of standards and best practices for research data. Support and training will be provided for UK life science researchers as well as increased capabilities in end-to-end FAIR Research Data Management and analysis.
