NI Science Festival: Print Your Instruments!

Back to events

3D printers have been widely available to the commercial market for over a decade now. This technology has resulted in many innovative music projects over the years. How can we use 3D printing for musical instrument making?

Date(s)
February 19, 2022
Location
Sonic Arts Research Centre, Queens University ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ, Cloreen Park, ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ BT9 5HN
Time
15:00 - 16:00
Price
£10

In this interactive presentation and workshop, researcher Zexuan Qiao is joined by Dr Simon Waters to discuss, show and play those 3D-printed instruments, and to demonstrate that the technology not only allows us to make new instruments, but may also throw light on those from the past. At the end of the event, participants can take home a 3D-printed whistle.
